Its not that easy being green...

"Its not that easy being green"..... Found lots of green things on our color hunt today! I'm noticing that he's really started to recognize his colors better and more often.

Jillians Pigs

There is a book called "The Wonderful Pigs of Jillian Jiggs" its a sequel to the book "Jillian Jiggs" about a little girl who's room looks like its been lived in by pigs. In the sequel she decides to make her very own pigs and sell them to her friends. The story is very cute and at the end of the book it gives step by step directions on how to make your own pig like Jillian. So we started by reading the book then began to follow the directions we measured our panty hose and cut then mommy sewed a little and then we stuffed...facial features and ears were so on then a cute pink button then Mason had his very own pig. He wants me to make a pirate pig so hopefully we can do that too or just sew a patch onto this ones eye:) Fun book and activity.

Randoms

Just showing the the continuation of our binoculars project he found a toy that he turned into a binocular and then put books in the window because birds like to read you know:) The last picture is of some snow shapes we drew in the snow Mason thought jumping from shape to shape in the snow was hilarious!

Bird Watching...

Throughout that day and the next there was a lot of bird watching going on at our house. We saw them in the trees, the bush, under the car...At one point we were all at the window for an hour watching the birds in the snow it was beautiful and relaxing and I couldn't believe my two year old was sitting still for it all:) He even let his little brother have a turn.

I spy.....

This past week in our classroom we made Binoculars we cut a paper towel roll in hafe (but two toliet paper rolls would probably work better) and then I let Mason paint on them. Then we strung them together with string. We then went to the windows to look for birds through our binoculars.

Snow Ice Cream

Yesterday Our Classroom started out by making Snow Ice Cream! I remember making this as a child and trust me its just as much fun to make as an adult:) Start by trecking out in the snow and letting the child gather up as much snow as he wants to fill his bowl. Then when you are back and warm and toasty inside add 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 milk and a dash of vanilla and voila! Snow Ice Cream! Mason's favorite part in this activity was definitly the fact that he really got to make this ON HIS OWN. I have been reflecting on that fact today how so many times we as parents want to put our childs work whether it be art, cooking or written into a nice little mold. We want it to look perfect or appear so wonderful to us to other people I don't know.....Its something I will keep pondering and working at to let Mason's work be just that Mason's work reagardless of the mess or less than attractive appearance because deep down its the process or his "work" that I want him to most enjoy........enough with the rambling go eat some snow:)

Graphs

Our Classroom started today with learning about Graphs and our Colors.
What better way to learn this than with Fruit Loops! Mason, really enjoyed this activity and sat for longer than 5 minutes to work on it with me and of eat some along the way:) Pretty self explanitory label paper with colors, glue corresponding fruit loops to paper and have child match colors.

ta ta ta tamborine

Making a Tamborine! Paper plates, rice, tape and decorate! Mason loved making this especially spilling the rice everywhere:) A penguin I thought was so cute that Mason was not interested in making so mommy made it:) oh well.

Another Car

This is another Car we made together using noodle wheels, q tips and paper we also painted an M on it for Mason.

Car

Over the weekend Daddy and Mason built a wooden car together...First they painted the car then nailed on the wheels with a small hammer and nails and then daddy helped Mason glue the spoiler on. They both had alot of fun doing this project and its preparing us for the Letter C because as you know C is for Car! BRRRMM! (I failed to get a picture of the finished car but I can assure you it is being played with and used as a tow truck for his other cars.)
